In 2025, we spoke to residents about the outside drying area. We wanted to understand if it was easy and safe to use, especially in the evenings.

How we listened:

We talked to residents during regular visits and asked about their experience. One resident told us the drying area was hard to use after dark and didn’t feel safe.

What we will be doing:

We made improvements to make the area safer and easier to use at night. We added better lighting and improved the ground surface so people are less likely to trip.

• The drying area was too dark in the evening
• It was hard to see and easy to bump into washing lines
• Lights shouldn’t stay on all night
• The ground felt unsafe and uneven

• Added new lighting so it’s easier to see
• Installed motion-sensor lights that turn on when needed
• Made sure lights switch off to avoid disturbance at night
• Replaced the flooring to make it safer to walk on
