Improved communal lighting has now been installed outside the remaining flats on Park Square, Kings Heath, bringing safer, brighter walkways to even more residents.

Earlier this year, NPH electricians transformed the first set of communal walkways after residents raised concerns about poor lighting. The project saw the team design and install a completely new lighting system, improving visibility and helping residents feel safer in the area.

Following the success of that work, the electrical team has now completed a second phase of the project on the opposite side of the square, where walkways serving flats above the shops have been upgraded with new lighting. The energy-efficient fittings provide a brighter and more welcoming environment for residents and visitors using the communal areas.

As part of the latest installation, the team also incorporated an improvement based on lessons learned from the first phase of the project. A sensor on one of the original walkways was damaged through vandalism, so electricians reviewed the design and relocated the sensor inside the light fitting itself. This simple but effective change protects the sensor from damage while ensuring the lighting system continues to operate as intended.

Assistant Director of Repairs, Rikki Kerr said: “After seeing the positive impact the first installation had for residents, it was great to return and complete the work on the other side of the square. Electricians Tony and Colin have demonstrated the level of skill and talent we have within our trades team; they’ve done a first-class job.”
