Art Club Continues to Inspire Creativity and Connection
A popular art club based at NPH’s James Lewis Court Community Hub is continuing to bring people together through creativity, friendship and shared learning.
The club, which meets every Thursday from 1pm to 4pm, welcomes people of all abilities. It provides a relaxed and supportive environment where members can develop their artistic skills, meet new people and build confidence. There is no need to book in advance, anyone interested can simply turn up and take part.
Run by local resident Colin and NPH tenant Jenny, the group has become a valued part of community life for many of its members. One year ago, the pair stepped in to lead the club after founder Gail was no longer able to continue in the role and have worked hard to ensure it remains a welcoming and thriving space for local people.
As well as helping members improve their artistic techniques, the club offers an important social space where friendships have formed and confidence has grown through support and encouragement. Colin and Jenny have plenty of ideas for the future, including artist-led workshops, visits to exhibitions and opportunities for members to showcase their work.
Members have recently enjoyed workshops led by local landscape artist Yvonne Lea, with another session planned before Christmas. The club is also looking forward to a visit to the L.S. Lowry exhibition in Milton Keynes on 5 November, giving members the opportunity to see the work of one of Britain’s most celebrated artists. The group is also planning an exhibition of members’ own artwork, providing a chance to celebrate the creativity and talent that continues to flourish within the club.
NPH is proud to support community groups such as the James Lewis Court Art Club, which help reduce social isolation, encourage learning and strengthen connections between local residents. Community Hubs play an important role in bringing people together and providing welcoming spaces where activities and clubs can flourish.
As part of this commitment, NPH tenants can hire our Community Hubs free of charge, helping residents to run activities, groups and events that benefit their local neighbourhoods.
Anyone interested in joining the art club is welcome to attend a session and discover the benefits of getting creative alongside others in the community.
