Staying Safe from Fraudsters
There have been several instances reported recently where people have gained access to blocks of flats by ‘tailgating’ behind residents and have distributed leaflets asking for bank details. Please treat these very cautiously and don’t let people you don’t know into your block of flats.
Reports of bogus callers have also increased as we move towards the busiest time of year. In particular, we have had a few reports about a company calling themselves ‘Housing Disrepair’ who claim to work for the Council and are ringing our tenants. They do not work with the Council so please do not engage with them.
NPH and our contractors will always let you know in advance if they intend to visit your home. Fraudsters generally turn up without notice or warning. Always ask for ID and if in any doubt that your visitor is working for NPH please call our Contact Centre to check.
Here are some of the things you can do to protect yourself from fraudsters:
- Don’t allow strangers to tailgate behind you to gain access to your block of flats
- Don’t give your bank details to anyone you don’t know or can’t check
- Always check identification cards, genuine callers will have them
If in doubt, call us: on 0300 330 7003 to check or report any incidents to Crimestoppers on: 0800 555 111.
